I was visiting one of my favorite wetlands this past weekend. My focus was on the Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, who are nesting there in great numbers. They were flying in and out of this particular area that had topless palm trees. I wanted to get as few obstructions in the background as possible, so with the Quick Action Harness I could move around quickly as they flew around to get the best action without those obstructions. Both of the images were taken with the Nikon D300s and Nikon 500 f/4, but of course the Quick Action Harness can be used with any of the big telephoto lens, such as the 600mm f/4′s, 200-400mm f/4, 800 mm’s, etc of any brand.

I was at the Viera Wetlands, in Viera, FL, a week ago and the great blue herons were going through their mating rituals and setting up nesting spots. They would fly in and out of this particular area, landing on certain palm tree tops. I was trying to get the interactions between this particular male and female. Sometimes they would interact in front of the center palm leaves and sometimes they would have their love spats behind the leaves. I wanted to get them flying in, but I also wanted to get them as they interacted on the palm top, decisions decisions. Not with the Quick Action Harness, it is VERY easy to readjust your position, no picking up the tripod and readjusting it then finding out where the action has gone. The first image is the male flying into the nesting area. The second is the two having their love discussions all using the Nikon D300s and the Nikon 500 f/4 attached of course to the Quick Action Harness.

I was out at my local wetlands yesterday morning and boy was the light fantastic!! This resident eagle was posing for us, but I wanted to get him as he flew off. So I positioned myself where I thought would be good when he made his move, pointed my 500 up at him, attached to the Quick Action Harness, and just waited. It was a fair few minutes, but then off he went. This is the resulting image. I was VERY pleased!!
